Dennis D. Tubbs, age 73, Chestnut Grove, Pa., went to be with his Lord and Savior on Friday, June 17, 2016, at the DuBois Nursing Home after a long illness.
Dennis was born on July 10, 1942, in Clearfield, Pa., the son of the late Victor and Delevene (Anderson)Tubbs.
On July 20, 1963, he married Helen Kessler. She survives and lives in Chestnut Grove. They were married 53 years.
Dennis served in the United States Air Force from 1961 to 1965 as a crew chief on a C47. After leaving the Air Force, he worked for Rockwell Manufacturing, and then he worked as a draftsman at Brockway Glass. He taught drafting and design at DuBois Area High School for 2 years and 16 years for the Clearfield County Vo-Tech. He worked at Rockwell Manufacturing again as an engineer till Rockwell left DuBois. After that, he was self-employed as an electrician until his illness started.
Dennis was a member of First Baptist Church in DuBois. He especially loved singing in the men's choir and attending Pastor Matt's Bible Class for the 7th and 8th graders at DuBois Christian Schools. He loved interacting with the students and listening to their Bible verses. He loved the Lord and his desire was to be a witness to those he came in contact with.
Dennis loved spending time with his family, especially attending activities his grandchildren were involved in.
In addition to his wife, Helen, he is survived by his son, Dennis D. Tubbs, II of DuBois, Pa.; his daughter, Sherry Amitrone and her husband, James of Washington, Pa.; three grandchildren: Jared Tubbs of DuBois, Pa., Madyson Amitrone of Washington, Pa. and Michaela Tubbs of DuBois, Pa.; and two nieces, Melissa Houston and Barbara Tubbs.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Victor Tubbs; grandparents, George and Hazel Anderson and Singleton and Elizabeth Tubbs. He was the last member of his immediate family.
Visitation will be held from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Monday, June 20, 2016, at the Goble-Baronick Funeral Home, DuBois.
A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, June 21, 2016, from the First Baptist Church with Pastor Mark Montgomery officiating.
Full military honors will be accorded from the church by the members of the DuBois Area Honor Guard.
Burial will be in Chestnut Grove Cemetery.
