Donald "Dopey" Anthony, 79, DuBois, passed away Tuesday, Feb. 16, 2016, at Christ the King Manor. He had lived with his daughter Vicki Ellis and her boyfriend John Mahlon Jr. in Grampian for the last four years.
Donald was born May 21, 1936, in DuBois. He was the son of the late Harry W. and Anna (Pukzio) Anthony. He was married to Joann Emily "Hermit" (Wrighter) Anthony; she preceded him in death.
Donald is survived by his daughter, Vicki Ellis and her boyfriend John Mahlon Jr.; and a son, Steven "Tate" (Whitney) Anthony of DuBois; two sisters, Dorothy Smith of Reynoldsville and Jack (Joann) Manners of DuBois; one brother, Robert "Mugsy" (Nancy) Anthony of DuBois, four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren .
Donald was also preceded in death by four sisters: Mary Shedlock, Gladys Colffin, Anna "Babs" Cutlip and Margaret "Ninnie" Manners; and five brothers: Harry, Richard "Tody," Raymond, John "Jack" and Terry "Beek."
Donald was retired from the City of DuBois where he worked for the water, sewage and street departments. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and spending time with his great-grandchildren. He was a member of the IP&S, Swedish, Pulaski, VFW, Sandy and Big O clubs.
Visitation will be held from 4-7 p.m. Friday, Feb. 19, 2016, and from 9-10 a.m. Saturday at the Leo Nedza Funeral Home in DuBois. Services will follow at 10 a.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. David Nagele officiating. Burial will take place in Morningside Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the Memory Support Unit at Christ the King Manor.
