Donald Christian Baroni, age 49, Canyon Country, California, formerly of Dubois, Pa., passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, April 28, 2016, at the Henry Mayo Hospital in Valencia, California.
Born Feb. 7, 1967, Don was the son of Losetta (Bonnie) Baroni, formerly of Dubois, Pa., and the late Donald Cosmo Baroni.
He was a 1985 graduate of Dubois Area High School.
On April 22, 2007, he married Pamela (Guray) Baroni; she survives.
Don was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps, having served in Sigonella, Sicily and Camp Pendleton, California. He was honorably discharged in 1991.
At his time of death, Don was working as manager of the Oaktree Gun Club in Newhall, California. It was well known that his team members and the owners at Oaktree Gun Club were considered Don's second family. He had previously worked as a manager for the Los Angeles Police Revolver and Athletic Club (LAPRAC) and as a manager for Turner Outdoorsman in southern California. Overall, he had a career in firearms sales, service, and shooting sports management that spanned over two decades. Don was considered by many to be an expert in the firearms industry.
Don is survived by his wife of nine years, Pamela Baroni. Also surviving are his mother, Bonnie Baroni of Woodbine, Maryland; a sister, Tracy L. Baroni Allmon and her husband William of Woodbine, Maryland; a brother, Dr. Anthony X. Baroni and his wife Carrie of Pittsburgh, Pa.; nieces, Piper and Bailey Allmon, Skyler Baroni, Thalia Guray, and Ella Jurk, as well as nephews Luke and Spencer Allmon, Caleb Baroni, and Xavier Jurk; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
Don was preceeded in death by his father, Donald Cosmo Baroni (d. 2006).
A public memorial ceremony with gun salute and flag and video tribute was arranged by Don's friend of 30 years, Jon Butler and the owners of the Gun Club, Betsy James and Jim Mitchell. The ceremony was held at the Oaktree Gun Club on Saturday, April 30, 2016.
