Donald E. Pisarchick Sr., 76, West Clarion Road, Brockway, died Thursday, July 24, 2014, at his residence.
Born Dec. 24, 1937, in Brockway, he was the son of the late George and Helen Freemer Pisarchick Sr. He was married on July 26, 1980, to Nellie Thompson. She survives.
Retired, he had been employed at Brockway Glass as an electrician.
Don was the current president of the Heath Twp. Sportsmens Club, a member of Parson-Marnatti Post #95 American Legion, the Brockway Sportsmens Club, North Fork Water Shed Association, and served for many years as a director at the Wildwood Cemetery where he was instrumental in the construction of the cemetery's chapel.
Don was the first president of the Brockway Midget Football.
He was a Jack-of-all-trades and had the knack to fix or build anything.
He was an avid Penn State football fan as well as a Pittsburgh Steeler and Pirates fan. He loved to hunt and fish. One of his biggest pleasures was sitting on the porch at his camp along the Clarion watching the river flow by.
Don is a veteran having served in the U.S. Army.
Survivors include one daughter, Gay (Ron) Feldman Sr. of Brockway; two sons, Dean and Donald Pisarchick Jr., both of Brockway; one brother, Paul (Jule) Pisarchick of Brockway; and a sister, Eileen Moyer of Brockway. He is also survived by eight grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two sons, Brian Pisarchick and Stephen Merritt; two brothers, Anthony and George Pisarchick; and two sisters, Gertie Hrinya and Shirley Rula.
Friends will be received from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. today (Friday, July 25) at the Carlson-Shugarts Funeral Home Inc. in Brockway. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 26, at the funeral home with Pastor Bob Trask officiating.
Committal prayers and burial will follow at the Wildwood Cemetery. Full military honors will be accorded Saturday morning at the cemetery by Parson-Marnatti Post #95 American Legion.
Memorial donations may be made to the Hahne Cancer Center, Brockway Ambulance or Dusan Ambulance Service.
