USMC GySgt Donald G. Colbey died on August 16, 2018 in Butler, Missouri after a short illness. He was born August 19, 1949, the son of Donald and Ruth Webb Colbey. He grew up in Penfield and graduated from DuBois Area High School Class of 1967, an undefeated member of the 1966-67 undefeated wrestling team. Don served with the USMC from 1970-1992, with three tours in Vietnam, also Grenada and Beirut. He lived in Harrisonville, Mo., since his retirement.
He was a member of the Vietnam Veterans of America Bucktail Chapter 720, the Beirut Veterans Association, the Harrisonville VFW Post 4409 and Commander of the Garden City, Mo., AmVets.
He was predeceased by his parents and an infant sister. He is survived by two daughters: Tonya (Eron) Kopf, New Mexico and Vanessa (Richard) Shoemaker, Erie, Pa.; three grandchildren, sister Ruth Ann (Louis) Gregori and brother Jeffrey (Gena) Colbey of Penfield, nieces and nephews.
Burial took place in Parker Cemetery, Creighton, Mo. Memorials may be made to VVA Chapter 720, P.O. Box 220, St. Marys, PA 15857 or donors' choice.
