Doris M. Martini, age 95, of Meadow Street, Brockway, Pa., died on Monday, March 7, 2016, at her residence.
Born on April 12, 1920, in Brockway, she was the daughter of the late William and Lillian Pearson Mooney.
Doris was married to Everett A. Kalgren in 1940 and he preceded her in death in 1957. She then married John Bulck in 1975, and he preceded her in death in 1982. Doris then married Ed Martini in 1989; he preceded her in death in 2007.
When she lost her first husband Everett, she did not let that stop her and decided to reinvent herself. She became a professional working woman and successfully raised her three children, the loves of her life. She viewed her job as a joy, and often said how she looked forward to Mondays so she could get back to the office. She had been employed as an executive secretary at Brockway Glass until her retirement in 1986.
Doris was a 1937 graduate of the Brockway High School and a 1959 graduate of the DuBois Business College. Anyone who knew Doris would tell you her pride and joy was her home. She daily expressed her love for her home, her neighbors and the little town of Brockway. She also enjoyed the time she shared with her cat "Kit."
Doris was a lady of dignity, strength and kindness, but a mama bear when it came to her family. She will be deeply missed, but remembered with fondness and much love.
She was a member at St. Tobias Church in Brockway.
Doris is survived by a daughter, Linda (David) Finnegan of Quincy, Mass.; two sons, Todd (Carol) Kalgren of Brookville and Jim Kalgren of Brockway; three stepdaughters, Judy (Joe) Gara of Philadelphia, Sue (Jeff) Frey of Duluth, Minn. and Cathy (Andy) Jacobs of Cincinnati, Ohio; 12 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, six step-grandchildren, one step great-grandchild, five great-great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
She is also preceded in death by an infant daughter, Mary Ann and two sisters, Ruth Buckley and Gloria Rumsey.
Calling hours will be from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Wednesday, March 9, at the Carlson-Shugarts Funeral Home Inc. in Brockway. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. Thursday, March 10, at St. Tobias Church in Brockway with the Rev. Msgr. Charles Kaza presiding. Burial will follow in St. Tobias Cemetery.
