Doris Mae "Dorie" Hartman, 88, DuBois, passed away Sunday, April 17, 2016, at the DuBois Nursing Home.
Born April 23, 1927, in DuBois, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Edith (Lucas) Shenkle.
Dorie married William J. Hartman on May 20, 1950, in DuBois. He preceded her in death on Aug. 20, 1990.
Dorie is a graduate of Sandy High School. She was employed by the FBI, Bell Telephone, and the DuBois Area School District cafeteria, and then later retired from the Maple Avenue Hospital. Dorie enjoyed reading and completing crossword puzzles. She was an active member of Mt. Zion United Methodist Church, a member of the Good Samaritan Circle, and a lifelong resident of DuBois and Sandy Township.
She is survived by three children, Patricia (Thomas) Baker of North Carolina, Timothy Hartman of DuBois, and William J. (Pam) Hartman of Reynoldsville; four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; two siblings, Karen (Rod) Pifer of Reynoldsville and John (Cheryl) Shenkle of DuBois; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Dorie was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and two brothers, Franklin and Robert Shenkle.
Friends and family will be received from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Wednesday, April 20, at the Adamson Funeral Chapel, Inc. in DuBois. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, April 21, at the funeral chapel with Pastor Kelley Schanely officiating. Interment will be in Morningside Cemetery.
Memorial donations may be made to the DuBois Public Library, 31 S. Brady St., DuBois, PA 15801 or to Mt. Zion United Methodist Church, 16 Denton Ave., DuBois.
