Dorothea M. "Dottie" Potts, age 67, of Allen Way, Brockway, Pa., died on Saturday, Oct. 28, 2017, at her home surrounded by her family.
Born on Feb. 8, 1950, in Nu Mine, Pa., she was the daughter of the late William F. and Mary Ann Vendur McCurdy. On Aug. 12, 1967, she was married to John B. Potts Sr. and he survives.
Retired, Dottie had been employed at S&T Bank in Brockway as a teller for 37 years. She was a member at St. Tobias Church in Brockway, and was a member of the Brockway Volunteer Hose Company Ladies Auxiliary for many years.
She enjoyed going on camping trips with her family, especially with her grandchildren. Dottie enjoyed working in the yard, tending to her rose bushes and flower beds, and building fires in the backyard to visit with family and friends around.
In addition to her husband she is also survived by three sons: John B. (Mindy) Potts Jr. and David A. Potts, both of Brockway, Michael J. Potts and fiancée Cathy of Falls Creek, Pa.; one sister, Alfreda A. (Raymond Sr.) Goldinger, also of Brockway; two brothers, George A. McCurdy and William F. (Karen) McCurdy, both of Ridgway, Pa. She is also survived by eight grandchildren: Matthew Marshall, Nykol Potts, Cody Potts, Kristofer Potts, Kalen Potts, Zachary Potts, John Pendleton Jr. and Mitchel Ross; four great-grandchildren as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents she is also preceded in death by two sisters, Donna L. Pisarcik and Mary Jean Miller.
Calling hours will be on Monday, Oct. 30, from 3 to 7 p.m. at the Carlson-Shugarts Funeral Home Inc. in Brockway. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, Oct. 31, at 9:30 a.m. at St. Tobias Church in Brockway with Msgr. Charles Kaza presiding. Burial will be in St. Tobias Cemetery. A Vigil Service will be held Monday evening at 6:45 p.m. at the funeral home.
