Dorothy A. "Dottie" Scott (nee Freeman), 92, died Dec. 6, 2014, in Glen Carbon, Ill.
Born April 22, 1922, in St. Louis, Missouri
Father: Leslie Leroy Freeman Sr., was born in Yount, Bollinger County, Missouri
Mother: Alice Leona Freeman (nee Wehde), was born in St. Louis, Missouri.
Married Oct. 18, 1948, (66 years) to Ret. Lt Col Paul Conner Scott of Rimersburg.
She is survived by her husband and two daughters, Patricia Lea (Robert) Griffith of State College and Barbara Ann Scott (Brent Langley) of Coal Valley, Ill.; two grandchildren, Stephen Griffith of State College and Jennifer (Michael) McKinney of Pittsburgh; and two great-grandchildren, Ava and Aaron McKinney.
She supported her U.S. Army officer husband in tours to Pakistan and West Germany, served as a nursing assistant at U.S. Army hospitals, and volunteered as a docent at the Western Expansion National Memorial, where she educated the public on the art of weaving. She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, sister and friend to many.
She dedicated her life to giving to others and chose to donate her body to science. There will be no funeral or memorial service. Some of Dottie's fondest memories were of the time when she volunteered at the USO during World War II to make soldiers far from home feel at home.
