Dorothy Ann "Dot" Sabatose, age 82, of Santo Domingo Court, Treasure Lake, DuBois, died on Sunday, Jan. 8, 2017, at Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh.
Born in Cleveland, Ohio on June 15, 1934, she was the daughter of the late Joseph W. and Irene E. Shunk Haberly.
She was married to George R. Sabatose for 40 years and he preceded her in death on Nov. 18, 1994.
Dorothy was raised in Brookville, Pa., by her maternal grandmother, Sarah M. Miller. She attended the Longview Elementary School from 1940-1946, Brookville Junior High from 1946-1949, and the Brookville High School from 1949 until she graduated in 1952. After graduating she started work as an Operator at Bell Telephone Co. in Bradford on Sept. 22, 1952. Over her career she worked at Bell offices in Bradford, Brookville, Clarion, DuBois and Altoona. In 1988 she transferred to Bell's Engineering Department in DuBois and worked as a drafter until her retirement on April 13, 1996.
Dorothy was Methodist by faith.
She was a member of the Bell Telephone Pioneers and the V.F.W. Club in Ridgway.
She enjoyed crossword puzzles, growing flowers and taking trips in the car.
She is survived by two daughters, Georgia Ann Sabatose and Joanne M. Sabatose, both of Reynoldsville, Pa.; one son, Joseph George Sabatose of Treasure Lake; two grandchildren, Cassie Jo Matlock and Christopher Adam Sabatose; two great-grandsons and three great-granddaughters, all of Tennessee. She is also survived by two cousins, Sis Tokar of Brockway and Pat Skinner of Brookville.
Calling hours will be on Friday, Jan. 13, from 1-3 and 5-7 p.m. at the Carlson-Shugarts Funeral Home Inc. in Brockway. The funeral service will be held on Saturday, Jan. 14, at 11 a.m., also at the funeral home with the Rev. Terry Felt officiating. Burial will follow in St. Tobias Cemetery.
