Dorothy Jane Maginnis Muth of Barrington, R.I., died after a brief illness on Oct. 25th at the age of 91.
She was the daughter of the late J. Edward Maginnis and the late Dinah A. (Reay) Maginnis. She was preceded in death by her husband John S. Muth, also formerly of DuBois. She was the sister of the late E. Ann Eberly.
Born in DuBois, she graduated from D.H.S class of '43 and had attended many of their reunions. She graduated from the DuBois Business College and had worked at Gray Printing and at the B.F. Goodrich Co. in DuBois and for Penn State at the University Park campus. In Rhode Island, she had worked for The Rhode Island School of Design.
An avid amateur musician, she had performed with the Civic Arts Symphony, the Penn State Orchestra, was a charter member of the Barrington (RI) Symphony as well as the Barrington College and Rhode Island College Orchestras.
She is survived by two sons, John C. Muth of Riverside, R.I. and his wife Cheryl, and Richard Muth of Chesterfield, Va. and his wife Michele, and her daughter Marilyn Martin of Portsmouth, R.I. and her husband Paul, and five grandchildren: Tyler Muth, Colin Muth of Virginia, Catherine Muth, Brittany Muth and Micayla Martin of Rhode Island.
She was a member of the Barrington Congregational Church and had served as a deacon and was a member of the choir. She was a member of the Barrington Women's Club and was active in their golf league. She had been a member of the Order of The Eastern Star.
She was interred at The National Veterans' Cemetery, Bourne, Mass., as was her husband. Please visit for more information and online condolences.
