Dorothy M. "Dot" Smith, 86, DuBois, passed away Friday, Sept. 12, 2014, at the DuBois Nursing Home.
Born Dec. 12, 1927, in DuBois, she was the daughter of the late Harry and Helen Lorene Hepfner Reasinger.
She was the wife of the late Ralph E. "Smitty" Smith Jr. whom she married Aug. 7, 1949. He died Oct. 3, 2000.
Dorothy attended DuBois Area High School and lived her entire life in DuBois.
Mrs. Smith was employed as a nursing assistant for 17 years at Christ the King Manor, DuBois, retiring in 1989.
Dorothy enjoyed playing bingo and was an avid reader.
Mrs. Smith was a member of the First Baptist Church, DuBois.
Surviving are a daughter and a son: Lori M. "Cooky" Beck and her husband, Carl, Chula Vista, Calif.; Preston D. Smith, DuBois; three foster daughters: Debra L. Hall, Irvine, Texas; Terry Behring and her husband Bruce, Chico, Texas; Vicky Heilburn, DuBois; 16 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and one sister, Thelma Mae Nelson, Savannah, Ga.
She was also preceded in death by a granddaughter, Desiree Smith; three sisters: Velma Rae Blackwill, Helen Jean Aber and Gladys McCrea; five brothers: Robert, Charles, Donald, Harry Jr. and Delbert Reasinger;
A service to celebrate the life of Dorothy M. "Dot" Smith will be held at noon Thursday, Sept. 18, 2015, at the Mohney-Yargar Funeral Chapel Inc., 142 W. Long Ave., DuBois, PA 15801. A time to share memories and have an opportunity to view will be from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday from 11 a.m. until noon the time of service at the funeral home.
Burial will be in Morningside Cemetery, DuBois.
