Dorothy P. Winkler, 87, of Spruce Street, Force, Pa., died Saturday, Dec. 26, 2015.
Born Nov. 28, 1928, in Tyler, Pa., she was a daughter of the late Joseph and Verna (Williams) Peters. She was married to Frank J. ""Chow"" Winkler Jr. on April 3, 1948. He preceded her in death Aug. 8, 2004.
Dorothy was a graduate of Huston Township High School. She worked at Sylvania of St. Marys and Emporium and Stackpole Carbon of St. Marys.
Being a member of St. Joseph Church for more than 50 years, she was a past active member of the Rosary Altar Society and she enjoyed her time with her family and friends.
She lived all her life in Bennetts Valley.
Dorothy is survived by three children: Donna (Edward) Lacko of Cherry Tree, Pa., Arlene (Roger) Young of St. Marys, Pa. and Michael (Bonnie) Winkler of Penfield, Pa.; five grandchildren: Monica Krejnus, Angela Smeltzer, Mark Young, Brandi and Joe Winkler; four great-grandchildren: Gabrielle and Zachary Smeltzer and Clara and Marilyn Young.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; four sisters: Marion P. Geer, Anna Mae Fraley, Geraldine Bertsch, infant Virginia; two sons, David and Ronald Winkler.
Friends will be received from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 29, and from 8:30-9:30 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 30, at the Ralph M. Geer Funeral Home, Penfield, Pa. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 30, 2015, at the St. Joseph Catholic Church of Force, Pa. Interment will be in Morningside Cemetery, DuBois.
Memorials may be made to Penn Highlands DuBois Hospice, Hahne Cancer Center or the Bennetts Valley Ambulance.
