Dorothy Perry, 99, Reynoldsville, died Sunday, Aug. 10, 2014, at Penn Highlands DuBois hospital, with her family by her side.
She was the beloved wife of 53 years to Santo J. "Sundo" Perry. He preceded her in death in 1991; the loving mother of John D. Perry and his wife, Maxine, of Herndon, Va., Darla A. Dickey and her husband, Doug, of Reynoldsville; Janice M. Reasinger and her husband, Dave, of Port Matilda.
Born July 14, 1915, she was the daughter of the late Henry and Catherine Holman Hergenroder; cherished Nana of eight grandchildren: Sheri Miller of Walston, Lisa Martinazzi of New Market, Md., Brent Dickey of Portland, Ore., Dawn Means of Panic, Mike Dickey of Punxsutawney, Chris Perry of Virginia, Colin Reasinger of State College and Kyle Reasinger of Rocky Hill, Conn., and 10 great-grandchildren: Zak and Alyson Dickey, Derek Keller; Nick, Alex, and Francesca Martinazzi; Hayley Means, Morgan Miller, Dylan Perry, and Levi Reasinger; dear sister to Eugene Hergenroder, Esther Eltringham, Catherine McKee, Mary Mikelonis and Eva Schultz, all of whom preceded her in death.
She was a graduate of Reynoldsville High School and was employed by the Silk Mill of Reynoldsville, Cameron Manufacturing Co., and Pete's Tasty Freeze,
A lifelong member of St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church in Reynoldsville, she was also a member of the Rosary Society and the Catholic Daughters of America.
Dorothy was also a lifelong member of the Sons and Daughters of Italy.
Dorothy enjoyed annual trips to the shore with her family, holiday get-togethers, baking, making Christmas 'Krusties,' and helping her adoring family in any way she could.
Friends will be received from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. today (Wednesday) at the Bernard P. Snyder Funeral Home in Reynoldsville. Rosary will be prayed at 3 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. A Mass of Resurrection will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Reynoldsville. Interment will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery in Reynoldsville.
Memorial donations may be made to Christ the King Manor in Dorothy's name.
