Earl James "Jim" Ramsey, 75, Brookville, died Saturday, June 28, 2014, at Penn Highlands, DuBois.
Born Oct. 23, 1938, he was a son of the late Elmer and Margaret "Peg" McMillen Ramsey.
On June 11, 1960, he married the former Judith Ann Battaglia. She survives and resides in Brookville.
Mr. Ramsey was a United States Navy Veteran serving on the USS Shenandoah, after which he served in the Air Force Reserves in the New York Air National Guard as a Master Sergeant with the 107th Civil Engineering Squadron until his retirement in 1991.
He worked for the water department in the City of Tonawanda, retiring in 1998.
He was a member of the Brookville Eagles, a lifetime member of the Union Hook & Ladder, and the Elk's in Tonawanda.
Jim was a hard working man, a great provider, husband, father and grandfather.
He enjoyed practical jokes on others, but was quick to lend a hand or anything he owned to anyone who needed it. He will be sadly missed.
Survivors also include three children: Diana Lynn (Ray) Cochran, Debra Leigh Considine, and James Arthur Ramsey, all of Tonawanda; five grandchildren: Robert (Melissa) Considine, Eric (Jackie) Considine, Cory Considine, Michael Cochran and Breann Cochran; one sister, Betty (Leroy) Anthony of Punxsutawney, three brothers: Donald (Lou) Ramsey of Punxsutawney, David (Rose) Ramsey of Tennessee, and Kenneth (Kathy) Ramsey of Oil City; numerous nieces and nephews.
He was also preceded in death by a brother, Paul Ramsey; and sister, Ruth Gordon.
Friends will be received from 3-6 p.m. Tuesday, July 1, 2014, at Brenda D. Shumaker Funeral Home Inc., Brookville. A funeral service will be held at 6 p.m. at the funeral home, officiated by Pastor Rex Slaughter, military honors will be accorded.
