He was born on Sept. 11, 1942, to the late William Lawrence and Lottie (Johnson) Reitz, at their home in Emerickville, Pa. Edward attended the Brookville School District and spent some time serving his country in the United States Armed Forces. He was first married to Hazel Burkhouse, then on Sept. 25, 1982, he married Nancy J. (Baughman) Reitz; she survives him.
Ed started working for PennDOT and he was with them for 12 years. He then worked for Riverside Grocery Stores, driving for the distribution department. Eventually he returned to PennDOT and finished out his career with them, retiring in 1995.
Ed was a member of the Christian Missionary Alliance Church in Brookville, Pa.
He was a very handy man, able to build just about anything. He would fabricate tools to meet the needs of whatever job he was working on at the time; he even built his own log splitter. He would tinker around the garage with anything that needed to be fixed or improved. He loved working on his Cub Cadet mower.
Ed and Nancy both loved the idea of traveling together and they would take time out of their lives to go camping. Ed's sense of humor was incredible, he was a comedian all the time; he would put himself in scenarios, even on accident, that just made people laugh. His family will miss him and they are grateful for the time they had to spend with him.
In addition to his wife Nancy, Ed is survived by four sons: Edward F. (Karen) Reitz Jr., William L. (Alice) Reitz, Wendell Scott (Miranda) Reitz, Mark (Valerie) Dvorsky; three daughters, Wendy Sue Attinger, Theresa (Jerry) Clinger, Tamara (Leland) Yeany; three brothers, Robert Reitz, James Reitz, Everett (Jamie) Reitz; three sisters, Arlene (Percy) Minich, Shirley (Robert) Smith, Bertha (Duane) Powell; his grandchildren: Joshua Reitz, Cory Reitz, Shania Reitz, Jordan Reitz, Hayden Reitz, Daniel M.
