Edward J. "Zeke" Zatsick, age 87, West Long Avenue, DuBois, Pa., died Thursday, Oct. 27, 2016, at his home.
Born Nov. 22, 1928, in DuBois, Pa., he was the son of the late Benjamin and Cecelia (Lichon) Zatsick.
On July 30, 1955, he married Margaret K. (Katus) Zatsick. She survives.
Zeke was a veteran of the United States Army and served during the Korean War.
He retired in 1993 from Riverside Warehouse after 26 years of service. He also worked at Jackson China for 20 years previous to that.
Zeke was a member of St. Michael the Archangel Roman Catholic Church. He was a member of the Polish Citizen's Club, the former Lithuanian Independence Club, and the Polish-American Vets. He was an avid sports fan and played baseball for several local teams including the DuBois Rockets.
In addition to his wife, Zeke is survived by a daughter, Carol Roach and her husband, Jack of Reading, Pa.; and two sons, David Zatsick and his wife, Barb of Conneaut Lake, Pa., and Jeffry Zatsick and his wife, Nadine of Johnstown, Pa.; and ten grandchildren: Matthew Roach and his wife, Marissa; Colleen Roach; Patricia Hodges and her husband, Scott; Amy, Abby, Ty, Evan and Jenna Zatsick and Erica and Erin Rodgers; and two great-grandchildren, Madelyn Roach and Edyn Hodges.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Alex and Michael Zatsick and two sisters, Julia Phillips and Vada Marusiak.
Visitation will be held today, Sunday, Oct. 30, 2016, from 1-5 p.m. at the Goble-Baronick Funeral Home, DuBois.
A Scriptural Wake Service will be held on Sunday afternoon at 12:30 p.m. from the funeral home.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, Oct. 31, 2016 at 10 a.m. from St. Michael the Archangel Roman Catholic Church with Msgr. Richard Siefer as celebrant.
Burial will be in St. Michael's Cemetery where full military honors will be accorded by the members of the DuBois Area Honor Guard.
