Elda M. Benigni, 92, of Apple Street, Weedville, Pa., died Wednesday, May 11, 2016, at Penn Highlands DuBois, DuBois, Pa.
Born May 21, 1923, in Byrnedale, Pa., she was a daughter of the late Louis and Jennie (Riccadonna) Chiappelli.
On May 6, 1943, she was married to Glenn E. "Cubby" Benigni in Our Lady of Assumption Church in Osterville, Mass. He preceded her in death on April 20, 2008.
She is survived by four daughters: Pamela Pauline of Kersey, Pa., Sharen (Robert) Marshall of Kersey, Pa., Maureen (Anthony) Viglione of Treasure Lake, Pa., and Deborah (Michael) Dillon of Altoona, Pa.; seven grandchildren: Corey (Charlene) Pauline, Kristin (Brian) Kinsey, Nichole (Travis) Williams, Tricia (Jason) Brigger, Garret (Jenn) Viglione, Ashley Cardosi and Sean Dillon; two step-grandchildren, Jeff and Toby Marshall; 15 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Louis "Manny" Chiappelli Jr. of St. Marys, Pa. and Donald (Nancy) Chiappelli of Force, Pa.; three sisters, Irene Muccio of Weedville, Pa., Dolores Floravit of Weedville, Pa. and Janice (Tim) Kinsler of Emporium, Pa.; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents in husband, she was also preceded in death by one sister, Rose Klaiber; sons-in-law, Bruce Heigel, Tom Pauline; and granddaughter, Erika Heigel.
Elda was the salutatorian of the Bennetts Valley High School class of 1942.
She was a homemaker, substitute postal clerk and owner of the Valley Cave.
Elda was a member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church of Force, Pa.
She enjoyed going weekly to the Bennetts Valley Senior Center, visiting with her many friends. She was also a Pittsburgh Penguin fan and attended many of their games with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She loved being with her family and they meant the world to her. They will all miss her very much.
She lived all her life in Bennetts Valley.
There will be no visitation. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 21, 2016, at the St. Joseph Catholic Church of Force, Pa., with Father William Laska and Father William Sutherland, concelebrating. Interment will be in St. Joseph Church Cemetery.
The family suggests memorials to the Bennetts Valley Senior Center or Masses at the St. Joseph Catholic Church and will be accepting online condolences at www.nedzafamilyfuneralhomes.com.
