Elizabeth P. Quashnock, age 92, of West Long Avenue, DuBois, Pa., formerly of R.D. Punxsutawney, Pa., died Sunday, May 21, 2017, at Christ the King Manor.
Born Sept. 27, 1924, in Anita, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Anthony and Mary (Horwantz) LaBance.
She was married to John A. Quashnock Jr. He preceded her in death in 1990.
Elizabeth was a homemaker, and she, along with her husband, ran John's Maytag in Sykesville for many years.
She was a member of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Roman Catholic Church where she was active in the Rosary Society. She was a volunteer at the Sykesville Senior Center and the Sykesville Library. She enjoyed crocheting and loved to read. She also enjoyed cooking and baking for her family. Her specialty was homemade pierogies, which she passed down to her children and grandchildren.
Elizabeth is survived by one son, Michael A. Quashnock and his wife, Julie of Reynoldsville, Pa.; a son-in-law, Paul Reiter of R.D. Punxsutawney, Pa.; four grandchildren: Vanessa Reiter, Megan Reiter, Mary Beth Bolam and Jill Quashnock; and one great-grandchild, August Bolam.
She was preceded in death by 11 brothers and sisters. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. She was also preceded in death by her daughter, Patricia Reiter.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 25, 2017, from 5-7p.m. at the Baronick Funeral Home and Crematorium, Inc., DuBois.
The rosary will be prayed on Thursday afternoon at 4:30 P.M. from the funeral home.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, May 26, 2017 at 10 A.M. from the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Roman Catholic Church with Fr. Bill Barron as celebrant.
Burial will be in Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Roman Catholic Cemetery.
