Ellen (Eisenman) Rowan, age 93, of the Jefferson Court in Brookville, Pa., passed away on Friday, April 22, 2016, at the Penn Highlands Brookville Hospital in Brookville, Pa.
Ellen was born on June 11, 1922, in Brookville, Pa. She was the daughter of the late P. Brosius Eisenman and Bonnie Conrad Eisenman.
She married Leo Rowan on Sept. 6, 1947, in Philadelphia, Pa. Leo preceded her in death on Sept. 22, 1981.
Ellen graduated from Brookville High School and went on to attend Drexel University, then graduated from Grove City College. She was employed with the Brookville Area School District for many years in the business education department and retired in 1984.
Ellen was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Brookville, Pa. She had been active in Aglow and Martha V. Conrad Club. She was also a member of ADK, a teacher's sorority.
Ellen is survived by three sons, Stephen (Ruth) and Kenneth (Joan) Rowan, both of Brookville, Pa., and James (Mary) Rowan of Greencastle, Pa.; two daughters, Rosemary (Dean) Seagren of Ventura, Calif., and Patricia Rowan of Pittsburgh, Pa.; six grandsons, two granddaughters, one great-grandson, and three great-granddaughters.
In addition to her parents and husband, Ellen was preceded in death by one sister, Esther Jane Eisenman, in 1972.
Family and friends will be received from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Thursday, April 28, 2016, at the McKinney – d'Argy Funeral Home, 345 Main St., Brookville, PA 15825. A funeral Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Friday, April 29, 2016, at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 129 Graham Ave., Brookville, PA 15825, beginning at 10 a.m. and officiated by Father William Laska. Interment will take place at St. Mary's Cemetery, Rose Twp., Jefferson Co., Pa.
Memorial donations may be made in her name to the Rebecca M. Arthurs Library, 223 Valley St., Brookville, PA 15825.
