Elton Glenn Doverspike, 93, of DuBois, passed away Saturday, Nov. 19, 2016, at Penn Highlands DuBois.
Born on Jan. 20, 1923, in DuBois, Pa., he was a son of the late George Henry and Margaret Irene (Hoyt) Doverspike.
On April 20, 1946 in DuBois, Pa., he married Betty A. Heberling, who passed away July 19, 2012.
Mr. Doverspike was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church.
He served in the US Army during World War II in Guam.
He was a laborer at Triangle Auto Springs for over 43 years until his retirement in 1986.
Mr. Doverspike volunteered his time for Meals on Wheels, was a longtime member and volunteer of the DuBois Senior Community Center, maintained the West Liberty (Fairview) Cemetery for many years, and bowled on the Church League.
He loved to play pool and bake.
Survivors include son, Thomas Elton Doverspike and wife Karman of DuBois; three grandsons, Tim Doverspike and wife Tina of Latrobe, Pa., Andrew Doverspike and wife Jess of Gordonsville, Va., and Dalton Doverspike of DuBois; seven great-grandchildren, five great-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Bonita Faulk of North Ridge, Ohio and Verna Mae DeWald of Williamsport, Pa.; honorary son, Larry Rogers of Staten Island, N.Y.; and close friend, Treva Murray.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; two brothers, George C. Doverspike and Raymond B. Doverspike; and two sisters, Blanda Slawson and Arwilda "Cleo" Graham.
Family and friends are invited Mohney-Yargar Funeral Chapel, Inc. on Tuesday, Nov. 22, 2016, from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m., with an additional hour of visitation on Wednesday, Nov. 23, 2016, from noon until the hour of services.
A Celebration of Life for Elton Glenn Doverspike will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday, November 23, 2016, at 1 p.m.
Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery, DuBois.
Memorial contributions may be made to the DuBois Senior Center, 120 West Park Avenue, DuBois, PA 15801.
