Ernest L. Rider, 79, 5094 Reynoldsville-Falls Creek Road, Falls Creek, died Wednesday evening, June 3, 2015, at his home.
Born Sept. 5, 1935, in Bellefonte, he was a son of the late LeRoy and Edith Horner Rider. On Nov. 22, 1990, he married Carol A. Chapman Rider. She survives in Falls Creek.
Ernest was a 1955 graduate of State College High School. He was a retired independent truck driver and a farmer for many years.
He was a veteran, having served with the U.S. Navy.
He was Protestant by faith.
Ernest was a member of the John M. Read Lodge F&AM, Reynoldsville. He enjoyed spending time with his dogs and was an avid beekeeper.
He is also survived by two sons, William Rider of Spring Mills and Timothy (Beth) Rider of Danville; five daughters: Vickie Gilbert of Boalsburg, Sonja Rider of Millheim, Karen Rider of Rebersburg, Teresa Rider of Millheim and Jerico (Ryan) Welder of DuBois; six grandchildren; one brother, Karl (Mary) Rider of Madisonburg; and one sister, Larethria Robinson of Falls Creek.
He was also preceded in death by a brother, Edward Rider.
A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, June 10, 2015, at the Houserville United Methodist Church in Houserville, Pa., with the Rev. Mark Myers officiating. Burial will be in the Houserville United Methodist Cemetery, Houserville.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Bernard P. Snyder Funeral Home, Reynoldsville.
