Esther M. Sallack, age 102, formerly of Home Camp and Johnsonburg, Pa., died on Thursday, June 2, 2016, at the DuBois Nursing Home.
She was born on Sept. 6, 1913, in Weedville, Pa., the daughter of the late Rex and Lena (Brown) Gray.
On June 9, 1932, in Johnsonburg, she married Harry Alvan Sallack, who preceded her in death on March 25, 2005.
Mrs. Sallack was a homemaker and was a member of both the Home Camp United Methodist Church, and the First United Methodist Church in Johnsonburg. She was a past matron of the Order of the Eastern Star, and enjoyed knitting and sewing.
She is survived by two sons, A. Eugene Sallack and his wife Donna of Johnsonburg, Pa., and Oren L. Sallack and his wife Sally of Punxsutawney, Pa.; a sister, Mildred of Illinois; 13 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren, three step great-grandchildren, five great-great-grandchildren and four step great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Charmaine LaRock;
a brother, Rex Gray, killed in action in World War II; and three sisters, Florence Taylor, Ruth Beck and Virginia Haldeman.
Friends will be received from 9-11 a.m. Monday, June 6, 2016, from the Goble-Baronick Funeral Home, DuBois.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday from the funeral home with Pastor Rick Howe officiating.
Interment will follow in Morningside Cemetery.
