Eugene V. Baranauskas, 78, of Punxsutawney, passed away Oct. 25, 2016, at Punxsutawney Area Hospital. He was a guest at Mulberry Square Elder Care for the past year.
Eugene was born Jan. 1, 1938, in DuBois, a son of the late Joseph Baranauskas who was a firefighter for 50 years and Julia (Palsis) Baranauskas.
Eugene loved being a fireman, hunting, fishing being a cowboy and his gun. He enjoyed many happy times and very close friends at Camp Friendship where he belonged for 22 years.
He is survived by his brother; Robert Baranauskas and wife Janice of Westford, Pa.; his second family, Cookie and Bill of Punxsutawney; his special firefighter friends, Bill and Denise; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Joseph and Albert Baranauskas; and very close and loved friends, Sherwin Farmery and Jim Michael.
Friends will be received from 5-7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 27, 2016, at the McCabe Funeral home of Punxsutawney where a Blessing Service will be held at 7 p.m. with Msgr. Joseph Riccardo as Celebrant.
Private interment will follow on Friday at St. Joseph Cemetery, DuBois.
