Evelyn Mae Vanderpool, 84, Punxsutawney, passed away Wednesday, April 15, 2015, surrounded by her loving family.
Born May 27, 1930, in Juneau, she was a daughter of the late Harry and Lola Stiver Sloniger.
Evelyn is survived by her loving husband of 66 years, David Vanderpool of Punxsutawney. They were married June 11, 1948.
She attended the Wesleyan Methodist Church.
She is survived by five children: Ronnie Vanderpool and wife, Susie, of Salem, Va.; Karen Burinda and husband, Wayne, of Wentzille, Mo.; Elaine Chiplis and husband, Bill, of Punxsutawney; Gary Vanderpool and wife, Toni, of DuBois; Eddy Vanderpool and wife, Terry, of Punxsutawney; 11 grandchildren: Dave Vanderpool, Dana Callaway, Mike Vanderpool, Leroy Grusky, Traci LaPrade, Julie Baun, Scott Vanderpool, Jesse Chiplis, Krystin Pogue, Chad Chiplis, Tony Chiplis; 19 great-grandchildren; brothers: Ray Sloniger and wife, Shirley, of Punxsutawney; Bob Sloniger of Phoenix, Ariz.; sister, Florence Fetterman and husband, Fred, of Alexandria, Va.; and her sister-in-law, Lois Vanderpool of Punxsutawney.
Friends will be received from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Saturday, April 18, 2015, at the McCabe Funeral Home in Punxsutawney. A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home with the Rev. Steve Cassidy and Pastor Tom Spiker officiating. Interment will follow at Lakelawn Memorial Park, Reynoldsville.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Wesleyan Methodist Church, 113 Lincoln Way, Punxsutawney, PA. 15767.
