Florence I. (Reed) Shaffer

Florence I. Reed Shaffer, 98, DuBois, passed away Tuesday, Oct. 28, 2014, at the DuBois Nursing Home.
Born Dec. 7, 1915, in Grange, at the family home, she was the daughter of the late Parker and Lethia Watt Reed.
She was married to the late Glenn M. Shaffer.
Florence attended Punxsutawney Schools and cosmetology school.
During World War II, she was one of the Rosy Riveters. She was a beautician and later a homemaker. As a member of the DuBois Alliance Church, she served as a Sunday school teacher for many years and as a lay minister.
Her hobbies included gardening, sewing, Bible study, and spending time with her family.
Florence was a kind, caring, generous person. Her relationship with God was the most important thing in her life. She was a wonderful daughter, sister, wife, aunt, great-aunt, and great-great-aunt. She will be missed by all who loved her.
She is survived by a sister, Erma Moore, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, great-nephews, great-nieces, great-great-nephews, and a great-great-niece.
She was also preceded in death by her brothers: Everett, Glen, Frank and Mervin Reed; and a brother-in-law, Charles Moore.
A memorial service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 30, at the DuBois Alliance Church with the Rev. Paul Moore, Rev. Ed Moore, and Rev. Tim Connor officiating. Interment will be in Morningside Cemetery.
Arrangements are under the direction of Adamson Funeral Chapel Inc. of DuBois.
