Frances M. "Chickie" Cherban Nairn, 81, Shaffer Avenue, DuBois, died Thursday, April 30, 2015, at Geisinger Medical Center in Danville.
Born Dec. 18, 1933, in Wishaw, she was the daughter of James and Jean Murone Torrell.
Chickie was the Pennsylvania Academy of Cosmetology director for 12 years. She retired in 1998. She then worked part time at the Clearfield Beauty Academy for seven years. She was also the Marketing director at the Maple Avenue Hospital from 1979-1985.
She was a member of St. Catherine of Siena Roman Catholic Church. She loved to cook and spend time with her family and myriad of friends.
Chickie is survived by her children: Glenda Stewart of Frederick, Md., Glenn Stewart and his wife, Debbie, of Fort Myers, Fla., and Gregg Stewart and his wife, Cindy, of Leesburg, Va.; a brother, James Torrell and his wife, Diane, of Atlanta, Ga.; a sister, Donna Skehan and her husband, Mike, of DuBois; five grandchildren: Chad, Casey, Ashton, Alexis and Olyvia; and two great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Martin "Toppy" Nairn, on Dec. 2, 2014; and her sister, Shirley Humphrey.
Visitation will be held from 3-7 p.m. Monday, May 4, 2015, at the Goble-Baronick Funeral Home in DuBois. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Tuesday, May 5, from St. Catherine of Siena Roman Catholic Church with the Rev. Msgr. Richard Siefer and the Rev. Fr. Mosimann, Pastor, St. John The Apostle, Leesburg, Va., as concelebrants. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery in Reynoldsville.
