Gary Mitchell DuGan, MD, age 57, of DuBois, Pa., passed away Monday, April 10, 2017, unexpectedly.
Gary was the son of Joan and Frank DuGan of Levittown, Pa., and loving husband of Joy (Kapushak) DuGan. They were married for 32 years.
Gary was the Chief Medical Officer for Penn Highlands since 2007. He graduated from Neshaminy High School and went on to receive a bachelor's degree in biology from Wilkes College, where he graduated magna cum laude. Gary received his medical degree from Hershey Medical Center of the Pennsylvania State University, and completed an internal medicine internship, and residency, at Lehigh Valley Hospital in Allentown, where he was also the Chief Medical Resident. He received a Master of Medical Management degree from Tulane University in New Orleans. He was board certified in Internal Medicine and a CPE (certified physician executive) of the American College of Physician Executives.
Gary is survived by his parents; his wife, Joy; his daughter, Nicole; and two sons, Mitchell and Zachary; and his dog, NimZ. He is also survived by his brothers, Steve and Bill DuGan; and his sisters, Cheryl Rupprecht and Kim Calicchio. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, in-laws, cousins and friends. Gary enjoyed yearly trips with his family to Canada and Ocean City, N.J. He was a die-hard Penn State football and wrestling fan and, against his better judgement, a life-long Philadelphia Eagles fan. He also had a passion for fishing, weight lifting, and hanging out on the lake in his pontoon boat.
Visitation will be held on Friday, April 14, 2017, from 5-8 p.m. at the Baronick Funeral Home and Crematorium, Inc., DuBois.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, April 15, 2017, at 10 a.m. from the Baronick Funeral Home and Crematorium, Inc., with Msgr. Richard Siefer officiating.
