George L. "Spike" Bruno Jr., age 83, of Brockway, Pa., passed away on Wednesday, Aug. 2, 2017, at Highland View Health Care in Brockway.
Born on June 14, 1934, in Kittanning, Pa., he was the first born son of the late George L. and Matilda "Tillie" Judice Bruno.
He served in the U.S. Air Force, and was stationed in Korea during the Korean Conflict.
He worked as a truck driver, and traveled extensively throughout the United States and Canada. Spike was an automobile enthusiast, loving all types of cars from antiques to racing cars.
He is survived by a daughter, Cora Rieg of DuBois, and a son, Gary (Karen) Bruno of East Bend, North Carolina. He is also survived by two grandchildren, Jamie Corbin and Justin Rieg; three great-grandchildren, Madalynn Jewell Rieg, Mark Corbin, Mackenzie Corbin; a sister, Maurice (Frank) Krajewski of Reynoldsville, Pa.; and a brother, Richard (Anne) Bruno of Brockway.
In addition to his parents he is also preceded in death by a sister, Phyllis Lundberg.
There will be no public visitation. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, Aug. 9, at 11 a.m. at the Carlson-Shugarts Funeral Home, Inc., in Brockway with Msgr. Charles Kaza officiating. Burial will be in St. Tobias Cemetery.
