Gerald Y. Copenhaver, 95, of Reynoldsville, Pa., died on Friday, Feb. 5, 2016, at Christ the King Manor in DuBois, Pa.
Born Monday, Dec. 20, 1920, in Washington Township, Pa., he was the son of the late James Copenhaver and the late Tersa (Geist) Copenhaver. He was the husband of Carol A. (Anthony) Copenhaver.
He served in Company A 1st battalion of the United States Army during World War II. He was a retired miner for the Glen-Irvin Coal Co. in Penfield, Pa. He was an active member of the Reynoldsville American Legion Post 392 and was a Protestant by faith.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his sons, David E. Copenhaver Sr. (Paula) of Reynoldsville, Pa., and Gerald Y. Copenhaver Jr. (Denise) of DuBois, Pa.; daughters, Ellen L. Copenhaver of Brockport, Pa., and Patrica A. Anderson (Arthur) of Shawmut, Pa.; six grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren.
He is preceded by six brothers and four sisters. He was the last of his immediate family.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. today, Sunday, Feb. 7, 2016, at Bernard P. Snyder Funeral Home Inc., 206 E. Main Street, Reynoldsville, Pa. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at the funeral home with the Rev. Mark Myers officiating.
