Gertrude A. Mowrey, 81, of DuBois, Pa., died on Tuesday, Feb. 2, 2016, at Christ the King Manor in DuBois, Pa.

Born Monday, Nov. 19, 1934, in Ebensburg, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Geoffery White and the late Izora (Morton) White. She was the wife of Thomas L. Mowrey.

She was a 1953 graduate of Brookville Area High School and was a former employee of Larilee Footwear in Big Run, Pa.

She was very athletic in school, loved being with her children, grandchilren and great-grandchildren. She took all of the kids under her wings and they all called her mama and grandma Gert. She loved being outdoors. She was very active in the Reynoldsville Free Methodist Church from 1974 to 2010 and taught Sunday school there for many years. She then attended the Salem Methodist Church. She was very grounded in her faith of the Lord since she was a child.

Surviving are sons, Devin Mowrey (Linda) of Kingwood, Texas and Donnald Mowrey (Michelle) of Reynoldsville, Pa.; daughters, Darlene Mowery of DuBois, Pa. and Diane Mowrey of Sverna Park, Md.; brother, Larry White of Erie, Pa.; sister, Donna (White) Hartcourt of Erie, Pa.; grandchildren Katie Mowrey, Emily Mowrey, Megan Mowrey, Thomas Mowrey, Josh Mowrey, and Abby Mowrey and great-grandchildren Kennedie Gilbert and Ella Gilbert.

In addtion to her parents she was predeceased by brothers, Donald E. White, Walter White and James White; sister, Daloris "Sally" (White) Kenndy.

A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 12, 2016, at Salem Methodist Church, located at 2000 Carson Hill Road, DuBois, PA 15801, with Pastor Richard Howe officiating.
