Gertrude A. "Tootie" Burkhouse Zimmerman, 78, Reynoldsville, went home to be with the Lord and her family Friday, Feb. 27, 2015, at the home of her daughter Deborah after a lengthy illness.
Born April 12, 1936, in Reynoldsville, she was a daughter of the late Richard and Mildred Smith Burkhouse. She was married to William L. Zimmerman Dec. 19, 1953. He preceded her in death in December 2004.
Tootie was a graduate of Reynoldsville High School. Before retirement, she worked as an inspector for Brockway Glass.
Tootie was a member of the Soldier Allegheny Wesleyan church. She enjoyed going to the Soldier Church and going to yard sales.
She is survived by four children: Deborah (Roger) Walk of Reynoldsville, Joyce (Jim) Peppler of Saltsburg, Kevin (Darla) Zimmerman of Reynoldsville, Jerry (Dawn) Zimmerman of Emerickville; 10 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren; three sisters, Martha Shaffer of Falls Creek, Betty Hilliard of Falls Creek and Hazel Nolf of Brookville.
She was also preceded in death by two sisters, Ethel Benedek and Mary Kester; and one brother, Richard Burkhouse Jr.
Friends will be received from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Monday, March 2, 2015, at the Bernard P. Snyder Funeral Home in Reynoldsville. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, March 3, at the funeral home with the Rev. Kevin Brooks officiating. Burial will be in Smith Cemetery, Reynoldsville.
