Gertrude Irene (Jose) Fustine, age 95, of Kearney Road, Brockway, Pa., passed into eternity on Friday, Dec. 16, 2016, at Penn Highlands DuBois.
She was born on June 18, 1921, in Brockway, the eldest daughter of Frank and Clara Lesky Jose. She was a lifelong and faithful member of St. Tobias Roman Catholic Church.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, William P. Fustine in 1996; grandson, Jeffrey Fustine in 2016; and two brothers, Robert and John Jose.
She is survived by her sister Genevieve "Keeker" Benson.
Gertrude was a member of the St. Tobias Rosary Society and Parson-Marnati Post #95 of the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary.
She loved playing bingo, watching every Pirate baseball game and annual trips to Lancaster, Pa., every spring and fall. She will be lovingly remembered for her love of family.
Left to treasure her memory is her daughter, Marsha Johnson (Barry Fritz) of New Stanton, Pa.; two sons, William Fustine Jr. (Vicki) and Terrance Fustine (Sharon), both of Brockway; two granddaughters, Lisa Johnson and Tammy Johnson; two grandsons, Ed Johnson and Jon Fustine; two great-granddaughters, Alexa Johnson of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., and Alivia Johnson of New Stanton, Pa. A special thank-you to Tammy Johnson for her caring patience, love and dedication over the past 2½ years.
Calling hours will be on Monday, Dec. 19, from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Carlson-Shugarts Funeral Home Inc. in Brockway. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, Dec. 20, at 10 a.m. at St. Tobias Church also in Brockway with Msgr. Charles Kaza presiding. Burial will follow in St. Tobias cemetery. A vigil service will be held at 8:45 p.m. Monday evening at the funeral home.
Memorial donations may be made to the Meals on Wheels program at St. Tobias Church.
