Gordon L. Chittester, 90, DuBois, passed away Tuesday, January 30, 2018 at his son's home.
Born September 7, 1927, in DuBois, he was the son of the late Walter and Ruth (Dusch) Chittester.
On October 15, 1945, he married Clara Mae (Johnson) Chittester in Falls Creek. She preceded him in death on October 10, 2013.
Gordon retired as a truck driver, but also worked as a laborer for Crescent Brick. He was a member of Sabula United Methodist Church, Hickory Grange, and North Point Fire Company (formerly Sabula Fire Company). Gordon was a veteran of the U.S. Army.
He is survived by five children: Raymond (Mimi) Chittester, Johnny (Linda) Chittester, Bryan (Debbie) Chittester, all of DuBois, Brenda (Thomas) Messick of Ceresco, Neb., and Valerie Nelson of DuBois; 13 grandchildren; and 31 great-grandchildren. Gordon was the last member of his immediate family.
Gordon was preceded in death by his parents, wife, brothers, James and Billy Chittester, and his son-in-law, Edwin Nelson.
Friends and family will be received Thursday, February 1, 2018 from 4-8 p.m. and Friday, February 2, 2018 from 10-11 a.m. at the Adamson Funeral Chapel, Inc. A funeral service will follow Friday's visitation at 11 a.m. with Pastor Mark Erickson officiating. Military honors will be accorded by the DuBois Area Honor Guard. Interment will be in Morningside Cemetery.
