Gregg Bryce Smouse, age 81, died at NYU Langone Medical Center on Sept. 6, 2016, after a brief illness.
He was born in DuBois on Sept. 10, 1934, to Merle and Emily Smouse.
He graduated from DuBois High School in 1952, then served in the U.S. Air Force. Following his time in the Air Force, he attended business college and moved to New York City in about 1961.
He worked for UPI for over 30 years, then as Director of Evening Classes at the New York School of Technology.
He was an avid reader his whole life, loved old movies and Broadway plays.
He is predeceased by his parents; brothers, Jack Dale Smouse and Edmund Smouse; sister and brother-in-law, Joyce and Wilbert Johnson; niece, Dale Lynn Johnson; and nephew, Gregg Johnson.
He is survived by sister-in-law, Delores Montgomery; nephews: Jack Smouse, Martin (Susan) Smouse, and David (Sharon) Smouse; Todd Johnson and Lee (Peggy) Johnson; nieces: Terri Smouse, Mary Hankins, Lauren (Ed) Cornelius, Marcia (Joseph) Hirschmann, Betsy (Terry) Sholes; numerous great nieces, nephews, and cousins; and close friends of many years: Walter Towstokor, Sheila Hendrickson, and Donald Liantonio.
