Helen Wadding DeCarli, 84, Caledonia, died Saturday, May 16, 2015, at the DuBois Nursing Home.
Born Nov. 20, 1930, in Indiana, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Wilbur and Madge Malberger Wadding. She was married to Geno J. DeCarli. He preceded her in death May 27, 2004.
Born and raised in Indiana, Pa., she has lived in the same Caledonia residence since 1948.
She worked at the Wilcox Post Office, Jo-Ann Fabric of DuBois and the past 10 years at the Medix Hotel.
Helen was a past president of the Weedville American Legion Auxiliary of Post 978 where she was an active member for more than 30 years. She was a member of the Caledonia United Methodist Church from 1950 through 2013 and worked tirelessly helping with church fundraisers.
Helen was a member of the Bennett's Valley Senior Center, delivered Meals on Wheels, volunteered for the bloodmobile for many years and was known for designing beautiful handmade jewelry which she sold at craft shows as "Nana's Jewelry."
Her greatest love was her family, spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Survivors include a daughter, Peggy DeCarli of Medix Run; three grandchildren: Jason Jericho of Cumberland, Md., Casey (Paul) Mihalko of Uniontown, Jessica Orosa of Clearfield; four great-grandchildren; and a son-in-law, Kenny Maholtz of Weedville.
She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Helene "DeDee" Maholtz; a great-grandson, Elijah Mihalko; a brother, Wayne Wadding; and a sister, Betty Fox.
Friends will be received from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Tuesday, May 19, 2015 and from 10-11 a.m. Wednesday, May 20, 2015, at the Ralph M. Geer Funeral Home, Penfield. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 20, 2015, at the funeral home, with the Rev. Timothy Rogers officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Zion Cemetery.
The family suggests memorial donations be made to the Bennett's Valley Ambulance or the Penn Highlands Hospice of DuBois.
