Helen E. Kennedy, 95, of Punxsutawney, passed away Tuesday, Sept. 1, 2015, at Punxsutawney Area Hospital.
Mrs. Kennedy was born Feb. 19, 1920, in Summerville, a daughter of the late Samuel E. and Minna Mae (Alcorn) Ballentine.
Helen was preceded in death by her husband Ronald V. Kennedy Sr.
She was a member of Grange Church of God.
Helen was the last surviving member of her family. She was a lifelong member of ReAct, loved bowling, word search puzzles, was a very intuitive business woman and a gifted poet.
She is survived by her son, Ronald V. Kennedy Jr. and wife, Aleyda, of Florida; daughters, Patty Pifer and Sally Travis and boyfriend, Gordon Schaberl, all of Punxsutawney; seven grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, a great-great-granddaughter, Alyssa and two step great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband Ronald, she is preceded in death by her grandchildren; Stacey (Travis) Blake, Toby Travis, brothers: Henry, Richard and Theodore Ballentine and sisters: Iva "Dolly," Jessie, Susannah, Jean and Ethel "Bill."
Friends will be received from 1-3 p.m Saturday, Sept. 5, at the McCabe Funeral Home in Punxsutawney where a funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. with Pastor Janis Bracken officiating. Interment is private.
