Helen L. Skarbek, 93, 413 Mabel St., Reynoldsville, died Thursday evening, April 30, 2015, at Christ the King Manor, DuBois.
Born Oct. 28, 1921, in McCalmont Township, she was a daughter of the late Michael and Catherine Sivanich Meko. On July 5, 1951, she married Stanley T. Skarbek. He preceded her in death Sept. 25, 2005.
Helen was a homemaker.
She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Reynoldsville, a member of the Rosary Society and the Catholic Daughters of America, St. Marys Court.
She is survived by a son, Thomas E. (Susan) Skarbek of Waleska, Ga.; a daughter, Eileen (Russell) Showers of Dillsburg; four grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren; one brother, Michael (Helen) Meko of Punxsutawney; and one sister, Kaye (George) Gulish of North Wales, Pa.
She was also preceded in death by one brother, Theodore Meko, and two sisters, Martha Hostenske and Irene Baranick.
Friends will be received from 6-8 p.m. Monday, May 4, 2015, at the Bernard P. Snyder Funeral Home in Reynoldsville. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Tuesday, May 5, at St. Marys Catholic Church in Reynoldsville with the Rev. Fr. Richard Tomasone as celebrant. Burial will be in St. Peter and Paul's Byzantine Catholic Cemetery, Punxsutawney.
