Ilene G. Bovaird, 92, of Route 28, Brockway, Pa., (Sugar Hill) died Friday, Sept. 18, 2015, at Penn Highlands DuBois.
Born May 26, 1923, in Sugar Hill, she was the daughter of the late Richard L. and Delva Long Ross. She was married to Wayne Bovaird on June 15, 1946. He preceded her in death Feb. 8, 2008.
Retired, Ilene taught fourth grade for 43 years in the Snyder/Brockway School District, and for two years from 1958 to 1960, she taught physical education and health.
She was a lifelong member of the Sugar Hill Presbyterian Church. Ilene was a member of the Brockway Education Association, PSEA, NEA, and the Jefferson County PSAR. She also was a member of the Brockway Presbyterian Church's Breakfast Class and Philotes. She enjoyed traveling and camping.
She is survived by two daughters, Debra Britton of Falls Creek and Darla (Syed) Karimushan of Phillipsburg; and one son, Roger (Lori) Bovaird of Brockway. She is also survived by nine grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by a brother, Stanley Ross.
Calling hours will be from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Monday, Sept. 21, at the Carlson-Shugarts Funeral Home Inc. in Brockway. The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 22, at the Sugar Hill Presbyterian Church with Pastors David and Emily Koehler officiating. Burial will follow in the Beechwoods Cemetery.
Memorial donations may be made to the Sugar Hill Presbyterian Church.
