Jack E. Guthridge, 76, DuBois, passed away Monday, Feb. 5, 2018 at the DuBois Nursing Home.
Born July 19, 1941, he was the son of the late James and Amelia (Kematick) Guthridge.
He married Kaye R. Roper on May 27, 1961, in DuBois. They celebrated 57 years of marriage together. She survives.
Jack graduated from the DuBois Area High School in 1959 and went on to attend Allegheny Tech, Clarion University, and PSU. In 1965, Jack started working for the United States Postal Service. He retired from USPS as a postal clerk after more than 40 years of service. He was a lifetime member of the North American Hunting Club, NRA, and the Wild Turkey Society. Jack was also a member of the Hormtown Sportsman's Club, the American Legion, and the NWTF. He enjoyed hiking, hunting, fishing, spending time with his labs, playing for Hallstrom's softball team over the years, watching his grandchildren's sporting events, and spending time with his family. Jack was the founder of Shadow Turkey Calls. He attended Lakeside United Methodist Church. Jack was a veteran of the U.S. Army.
Jack is survived by three children, Brenda (Scott) Straw, Treasure Lake, Bryan (Anna) Guthridge, DuBois, and Gregg (Stacey) Guthridge, St. Marys; six grandchildren: Jordan and Kaytie Straw, Garrett and Bryanna Guthridge, and Ellie and Tanner Guthridge; two siblings, Tom Guthridge and Gary "Butch" (Jann) Guthridge, all of DuBois; as well as several nieces and nephews.
Friends and family will be received Thursday, Feb. 8, 2018 from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the Adamson Funeral Chapel, Inc. and Friday, Feb. 9, 2018 from 10-11 a.m. at the Lakeside United Methodist Church. A funeral service will follow Friday's visitation at 11 a.m. at Lakeside UMC with Evangelist Paul Morelli officiating. Military honors will be accorded by the DuBois Area Honor Guard. Interment will be in Morningside Cemetery.
