James P. "Jim" Milbert, 91, DuBois, passed away Saturday, July 23, 2017, at his residence after a lengthy illness.
He was born March 14, 1926, in Pittsburgh, Pa., son of the late Clarence M. and Mary V. (Rihn) Milbert. In 1971, James married Kathleen A. (Zacharias) Milbert. She survives in DuBois.
James was a carpenter and owner of Milbert's Tavern in Etna. He was a maintenance worker and supervisor of Fox Chapel Golf Club for many years. He enjoyed building and driving race cars for 26 years, working on golf garts, and he loved music, playing the accordion and singing.
James served in the US Army as a Mess SGT during World War II.
James is also survived by four children: Darlene (Clifford) Haggerty, North Carolina, Teresa (Larry) Bishop, North Carolina, Bill (Beth) Milbert, Butler, and Tannie (Joe) Ungor, Cranberry Twp.; one sister, Thelma Thomas of Pittsburgh; nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, July 27, from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the Leo Nedza Funeral Home in DuBois and on Friday, July 28, from 10-11 a.m. at Narrows Creek Church. Services will follow at 11 a.m. at the church with Pastor Bill Edwards officiating. Military honors will be accorded by the DuBois Area Honor Guard. Burial will take place in Morningside Cemetery.
