James R. Sexton (1927 - 2015)

James R. Sexton, 87, of St. Marys, formerly of Weedville, died Friday, Jan. 16, 2015, at Elk Haven Nursing Home after a short illness.
Born Feb. 12, 1927, in Benezette, he was a son of the late Raymond and Cathleen Von Riebnitz Sexton. He was married to Virginia "Gala" Crocco July 19, 1947. She preceded him in death Dec. 27, 1998.
Born and raised in Benezette, he lived most of his life in Weedville and lived the past 12 years in St. Marys.
James worked with Stackpole Carbon of St. Marys for 37 years.
He was a member of St. Joseph Church.
He was a drummer for the "The Count" band for 25 years and sang, for several years, with the "Singing Seniors" of St. Marys.
James is survived by two children, Joseph (Bob Kraus) Sexton of Penfield and Richard (Linda) Sexton of Kersey; two grandchildren, Thomas (Dawn) Sexton of Kersey and Laura (Steve) Wildnauer of Ohio; four great-grandchildren: Corbin, Ryan, Ava and Bella Wildnauer; and a sister-in-law, Alberta Crocco of St. Marys.
He was also preceded in death by eight sisters: Rea Floravit, Ruth Sexton, Elaine Jordan, Harriet Overturf, Marion Barr, Naomi Jones, Pauline Fox and Louise Glatt; and four brothers: Harold, Alan, Jack and Thomas Sexton.
Friends will be received from 5-8 p.m. Monday, Jan. 19, and from 8:30-9:30 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 20, at the Ralph M. Geer Funeral Home in Penfield. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the St. Joseph Catholic Church of Force with the Rev. Father William Sutherland as celebrant. Interment will be in Parklawn Memorial Gardens, Ridgway.
The family suggests memorial donations be made to the Bennett's Valley Ambulance, the Easter Bunny of Elk Towers, St. Marys, or Elk Haven Nursing Home.
