Janet H. Dennison, 94, Brookville, passed away peacefully Monday, May 18, 2015.
Born May 27, 1920, she was the daughter of the late Joseph H. and Marie Hartland of New Castle. She married Donald J. Dennison on Sept. 6, 1947. He preceded her in death Nov. 22, 2002.
She attended New Castle High School and later obtained her Bachelor's degree from Grove City College.
After graduating from college, she worked for U.S. Steel in Pittsburgh for several years. Following her marriage, she moved to Brookville where she raised her family. She worked intermittently as a secretary/bookkeeper at her husband's law practice and taught business skills and data processing at the Brookville High School in the mid-1960's, and was later employed by the school district to handle data processing and payroll.
She and her husband, Don Dennison, loved to travel and visited all 50 states as well as many foreign countries. Janet especially enjoyed spending the winter months with Don in Cudjoe Key, Fla.
Janet was an avid reader and also loved to garden.
She was active in the Brookville Presbyterian Church where she was a member for more than 50 years.
She was a loving mother and grandmother and will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
She is survived by four children: Carole M. (Patrick Mullen) Dennison of Easley, S.C.; John C. (Christine) Dennison II, of Brookville, James D. (Heidi) Dennison of Brookville and Lisa (Henry) Corigliano of Rochester, N.Y.; as well as 13 grandchildren and step-grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by her brothers James Hartland and Benjamin Earl Hartland.
Friends will be received from noon to 1:30 p.m. Friday, May 22, 2015, at the McKinney Funeral Home, 345 Main St., Brookville, PA. 15825. A funeral service will follow at 2 p.m. at the Brookville Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Nathan Royster officiating. Interment will be at Beechwoods Cemetery, Washington Twp., Jefferson County.
Memorial donations may be made to the Presbyterian Church, White and Main Street, Brookville, Pa. 15825.
