Jean E. Guthrie, 90, DuBois, passed away peacefully Wednesday, Oct. 5, 2016, at the DuBois Nursing Home.
Born Dec. 3, 1925, she was the daughter of the late Filmore G. and Pearl J. (Hunter) Ankerberg.
On July 18, 1953, she married her love, Robert Allen Guthrie, in DuBois. He preceded her in death on Nov. 11, 1998.
Jean graduated from the DuBois Area High School in 1944. At Upsala University, she earned a bachelor's degree in education. She taught English at Sykesville High School. Her love of children was unconditional, especially the love she had for her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Her family was her world, and she enjoyed every moment with them. Her hobbies included reading, playing cards, and attending Bible study. She was a member of Christ Lutheran Church.
Jean is survived by her children, Robert (Karen) Guthrie of Southbend, Ind., Jeanne (Jeff) Kenworthy of Wasilla, Alaska, Sally (Todd) Onstott of Tulsa, Okla., Paula (Ron) Ledbetter of Beaver, Pa., and Kristin (David) Henninger of DuBois; 14 beloved grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
She was the last member of her immediate family.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; a daughter, Carolyn Ann Guthrie; and a sister, Carolyn Pearl Ankerberg.
Friends and family will be received from 4-8 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 8, at the Adamson Funeral Chapel, Inc. and Sunday, Oct. 9, from 1-2 p.m. at Christ Lutheran Church. A funeral service will follow Sunday's visitation at 2 p.m. with Pastor John Miller officiating. Interment will be in Morningside Cemetery.
