John J. "Uncle Johnny" Morelli, 87, Bath, N.Y., died Monday, Dec. 1, 2014, in Rockton.
He was born in Scottsville, N.Y., June 24, 1927, the son of Pasquale and Dominica Allegratti Morelli.
He worked on the Muck land with his brother-in-law in his early years and then worked at Babcock Ladder Company in Bath for 30 years.
His hobbies included woodworking and jigsaw puzzles.
Uncle Johnny's love for people was shown by his kindness and consideration and he was known to be gentle in his words.
He was a lifelong communicant of St. Mary's Church in Bath.
He is survived by two daughters, Dominica V. Morelli of Durham, N.C., and Philomena M. (Thomas) Roy of Rockton; 12 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren; his brother, Archie Morelli of Lake City, Fla.; twin sister, Jenny Parlato of Brockport, N.Y.; and sister Katherine (Donald) Wood of Bath, N.Y.; and several nieces and nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews.
He was preceded in death by his son, Thomas E. Morelli; grandson, Jason Morelli; and sister, Edith Piazza.
Family and friends will be received from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. today (Friday, Dec. 5, 2014) at Fagan's Funeral Home in Bath. A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Mary's Church in Bath with the Rev. James Jaeger celebrant assisted by Deacon Dave Lafortune. Burial will follow in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made in his name to St. Jude's Childrens Hospital at www.stjude.org.
