Joseph Jerome Duda, 76, State College, formerly of Sykesville, passed away Monday, July 17, 2017, at Mount Nittany Medical Center after a short illness.
He was born June 18, 1941, in DuBois, Pa., son of the late Joseph and Helen (Roman) Duda.
Joseph was a 1959 graduate of Sykesville HS and a 1965 graduate of Electronics Institute of Pittsburgh. He spent 3½ years in the U.S. Army Signal Corps. He began working at the Office of Physical Plant at Penn State University in April of 1965 and retired in June of 2003. He was a member of Teamsters Local 48 and the American Legion Post 245 of State College. He attended Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church in State College and a past member of Holy Trinity Byzantine Catholic Church in Sykesville.
Joseph is survived by his daughter, Mary Christine (Duda) and husband, Nathan Hutchinson, of Boalsburg; four grandchildren: Xavier Johnson, Anja Johnson, Silvia Hutchinson and Cole Hutchinson.
Joseph enjoyed reading, collecting, and visiting with his grandchildren and grand-dog.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, Aug. 12, 2017, at 10:30 a.m. at Holy Trinity Byzantine Catholic Church in Sykesville with the Rev. Vasyl Banyk officiating. Burial will follow in Holy Trinity Cemetery in Sykesville.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Leo Nedza Funeral Home of Sykesville.
