Joseph T. Marando, age 89, of Orient Avenue, DuBois, Pa., died Wednesday, July 27, 2016, at Christ the King Manor.
Born Aug. 24, 1926, in Pittsburgh, Pa., he was the son of the late Harry L. and Mary (Poulfka) Marando.
He was a veteran of the United States Navy having served in World War II as a Third Class Machinist.
On Aug. 24, 1963, he married Esther M. Bojalad. She preceded him in death in 1999.
He retired as an iron worker after many years of membership with the International Brotherhood of Iron Workers Local #772.
He was a member of St. Catherine of Siena Roman Catholic Church. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council #519 and a 4th Degree Member with Assembly #2661. He was also a member of the James J. Patterson Veterans of Foreign Wars #813, the Independent, Political and Social Club, and the past Clearfield County Chairman of the Pennsylvania Federation Sportsman Club. He was also an avid Pittsburgh Pirates fan.
Joseph is survived by his daughter, Mary Theresa Grecco of DuBois, Pa.; two sisters, Mary L. Marando of DuBois, Pa. and Gloria Paulinellie of Harrisburg, Pa.; and one grandson, Thomas Grecco.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Harry L. Marando Jr.
Visitation will be held from 1-4 p.m. Sunday, July 31, 2016, at the Goble-Baronick Funeral Home.
A Scriptural Wake Service will be held on Sunday afternoon at 12:30 p.m. from the funeral home with Msgr. Richard Siefer.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday, Aug. 1, 2016, from St. Catherine of Siena Roman Catholic Church with Msgr. Richard Siefer as celebrant.
Burial will be in St. Catherine's Cemetery where full military honors will be accorded by the members of the DuBois Area Honor Guard.
