Joseph T. Tssario, age 86, of Erie, peacefully passed away on Wednesday, Jan. 11, 2017, at his residence surrounded by family.
He was born in Sykesville, Pa., on July 28, 1930, a son of the late Joseph and Theresa Mary (Cararie) Tessauro.
Joe served in the United States Marines during the Korean Conflict. He was a supervisor at Kaiser Aluminum for over 35 years until his retirement.
Joe enjoyed traveling with his wife to Italy and Florida and out West with his brother Ernie. He loved making wine, tending his garden, fishing and sitting in the sun. He was an avid Steelers fan.
Joe was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Elsie A. (Kopnitsky) Tssario; and two brothers, Jim and Tony Tessauro.
He is survived by his sons, Joseph Tssario, wife Mary Ellen of Erie, Tom Tssario, wife Jan of Erie; five grandchildren: Theresa Cleaver, husband Chris, Natalie Flaherty, husband Patrick, Meaghan Beerson, husband Mike, Tom Tssario, wife Lauri and Caitlin Tssario; 10 great grandchildren: Kara and Kylie Cleaver, Mila, Madeline and Mason Beerson, Henry and Charlie Flaherty and Brynna, Ethan and Emma Tssario; a brother, Ernie Tessauro, wife Dian; and sisters-in-law, Mary Anasti and Mildred Miller. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Friends are invited to call on Sunday at the Brugger Funeral Homes & Crematory, 1595 West 38th Street at Greengarden Blvd. from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. Services will be held there on Monday at 9:30 a.m. followed by a funeral mass at 10 a.m. at Blessed Sacrament Church. Entombment will follow in Gate of Heaven Mausoleum.
