Julia Kovalchick, 91, Main Street, Sykesville, passed away Wednesday, May 17, 2017, at Penn Highlands Healthcare in DuBois.
She was born June 18, 1925, in Sykesville, Pa., daughter of the late Stephen and Frances (Brasich) Zbuckvich. She was married to Andrew G. Kovalchick; he preceded her in death in 2005.
Julia was a graduate of Sykesville High School. She was a member of Holy Trinity Byzantine Catholic Church. She enjoyed doing puzzles, bird watching and baking.
Julia is survived by three children, Andrea (Peter) Rosenthal of Brevard, N.C., Steve Kovalchick and companion Karen Smith and David (Mo) Kovalchick, both of Sykesville; two grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; a sister, Helen (Jack) Buckwalter of Texas; and a brother, Frank Zbuckvich of East Butler, Pa.
In addition to her parents and husband Julia was also preceded in death by four sisters: Ann Orsich, Mary Kost, Kay Cooper and Frances Kovalchick.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, May 20, from 9:30 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. at the Leo Nedza Funeral Home in Sykesville. A Panachida service will be on Saturday at 10:15 a.m. at the funeral home. Divine Liturgy of Christian Burial will also be held on Saturday at 11 a.m. at Holy Trinity Byzantine Catholic Church with Fr. Vasyl Banyk officiating. Burial will follow in Holy Trinity Cemetery.
