June M. Huffman

Obituary
The Guest Book is expired.

June M. Huffman of Clearfield, Pa., formerly of Pittsburgh, Pa., went home to the Lord on Saturday, Nov. 28, 2015. Peacefully, and surrounded by her family, she died at the home of her daughter and son-in-law, Judith and C. Alan Walker, of Clearfield.
She was a 1938 graduate of Langley High School and a 1940 graduate of Grace Martin's School of Business. From 1940 until 1945, she was employed by Mellon Bank at the main office in Pittsburgh.
On Dec. 8, 1945, she wed Donald Dale Huffman of Bolivar, Ohio.
In 1942, June attended a USO dance in Asbury Park, New Jersey with girlfriends while vacationing with her family. At that time, servicemen purchased tickets for 10 cents to ask a lady to dance. That 10 cents turned out to be the best investment Don ever made. Three years later, June wed Don in Pittsburgh and that day began a lifetime of love and commitment as they celebrated 64 years of marriage.
June had many interests in life. With her love of flowers, she was a member of both Penn Hebron and Blackridge Garden Clubs where she planned and was hostess for many charitable fund raisers.
She was an avid bowler and organized activities for the Union Switch & Signal/Westinghouse couples bowling league.
She enjoyed golf, especially with her husband, and was a member of the Longue Vue Club in Verona, Pa.
She spent countless hours as a leader in both Cub Scouts and Girl Scouts.
She was well known for her cooking skills and artistry as a seamstress.
June will be remembered by her family as the "best story teller east of the Mississippi."
June will never be forgotten for the unconditional love she shared with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, as well as extended family and friends. She lighted their lives and delighted in their pride of accomplishments.
Don and June are survived by a son and daughter, Donald D. Huffman Jr. and partner Nancy L. Williams of San Mateo, Calif., and Judith Walker and husband C. Alan Walker of Clearfield. In addition to her children, she is survived by three grandchildren: C. Scott Huffman, M.D. of Long Beach, Calif., Derek Walker and wife Stephanie of Bigler, Pa. and Courtney Spencer and husband Andy of Clearfield; five great-grandchildren: Wynston and Broderick Walker and Cole, Kardon and Kendall Spencer; a brother-in-law, Russell Ross of Boliver, Ohio; a sister-in-law, Kay Adams of Pittsburgh; a special nephew, Arthur B. Cahall III and wife Charlotte of Harrington, Del.; and numerous other dear nieces and nephews.
June was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Don, on Oct. 10, 2010; her parents, Arthur B. and Lillian M. Cahall; and her only brother, Arthur B. Cahall Jr., a B29 bomber pilot in World War II who was killed when his plane crashed Aug. 8, 1945, never meeting his infant son.
Funeral services will be held at noon Saturday, Dec. 5, 2015 at the Presbyterian Church of Clearfield, 119 North Second St., Clearfield. Interment will follow in the Crown Crest Memorial Park, Hyde, Pa.
Friends will be received at the church from 10-11:30 a.m. Saturday.
The family suggests that memorial donations be made to Hebron United Presbyterian Church, 10460 Frankstown Road, Pittsburgh, PA 15235 or to the Allegheny Spay and Neuter Clinic, 1380 Shawville Highway, Woodland, PA 16881.
